Remember when you could wear casual clothes to the congregation book study?
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini would get home from work, eat dinner, shower and put on jeans,a shirt and gym shoes to the book study.
then, one day a letter was read where men would need to wear a suit and tie and the woman would have to wear dresses.
it was stated in a letter that the change was due to, '' giving a better witness to anyone who would watch us walking into our local congregation or a neighbor's house.''.

I remember that the letter was sent before 1984. We would wear casual clothes at our congregation book study. The book study was held at our elder's basement. He had no air-conditioning and we would all suffer due to the heat. -

There was nothing worse than wearing a suit at a brothers house who had no air-conditioning or was too cheap to put it on because of costs. We even had a sister pass out because the brother was too cheap to put the air-conditioner on in the middle of July.

HERE IS WHAT I WROTE AROUND 6 YEARS AGO! MY FIRST COUSIN DIED FROM CANCER .THE CONDUCT OF THE ELDERS TOWARDS HER DISFELLOWSHIPPED SON IS WHAT REALLY MADE ME REALIZE WHAT A HORRIBLE ORGANIZATION IT IS!
My cousin passed away last week from cancer at the age of 49. The cancer spread so fast it took our family by surpise. We figured she had a couple of years instead of months. She left 4 children(3 were baptised and 1 was disfellowshipped a couple of years ago).
Dealing with the death of their mother was bad enough but the conduct of the congregation Elders made it worse. The disfellowshipped child had to:
* leave the house when his mother died because Witness relatives were coming over to the house to visit the family.
* had to stay on the side of the funeral room at the wake by himself while the rest of the family sat in the front chairs.
* Elders refused to greet him in the line. They walked right past him.
*He was told not to attend the luncheon after the funeral. He left alone and went home because some members would not attend the lunch if he was there.
I spoke to him by phone for 3 hours after the funeral and was told that he will never return to being a Witness the way he was treated. He felt that the actions of the Elders made everyone else treat him the same.

Hi. May I ask. This fight with bus landlord elder, was it by any chance instigated by the elder?I was told that her son was on medication and by mixing it with alcohol,he lost it and started damaging his apartment. The elder heard the commotion and went inside the apartment. Her son than started to fight with the elder.I don't know if the police were called. -

I have a customer who's son is a Jehovah's Witness. He was disfellowshipped over a year ago. This is the second time he's been disfellowshipped. This last time was due to heavy drinking and fighting with and elder ( who was his landlord ). He was thrown out of his apartment. His mom took him in because he has no place to live and to make sure he stops drinking.
My customer( who is not a Jehovah's Witness) told me that her son has started to attend the meetings the last couple of weeks. She has to drive him to the meetings and sit in the back of the Kingdom Hall and leave as soon as the meetings end. She was told that no one at the Kingdom Hall was allowed to pick up her son and drive him to the meetings. ( Here is an 84 year old widow who has to drive twice a week and sit in he Kingdom Hall and listen in).
As she stated..." I cannot believe what they make someone who has a drinking problem go through as a Jehovah's Witness. As a practicing Methodist,we show compassion for people who are having a difficult time in their life."

I hated Ministry Book Bags.I hated coming out of my home with the book bags looking like I was going to aseminar. So,I starting going to the Ministry School and Sunday Bible meetings holding only the required books for that day in my hand.
For the Sunday meetings,I would just carry the song book, bible and watchtower magazine in my hand. NO BOOK BAG! For the ministry school,I would just carry just what necessary for the evening. NOTHING MORE! Carried the books in my hand.
Well, one day two Elders came to my home for a visit to see why I was missing some meetings and why I didn't carry a Ministry Book Bag to the meetings. I told them that since there wasn't that many books to carry for the meetings, I preferred holding them in my hands. They told me that all baptized Jehovah's Witness brothers carried book bags.I would need follow everyone's example. TALK ABOUT HUMAN MAN MADE RULES!

That is a poorly written article! There are so many run-on sentences and vagueness.
A DAD of two who disappeared after leaving a goodbye message for his wife was in financial difficulty and had been confronted by elders at his church over the discovery of pornographic images online, an inquest was told this week.
Who discovered the pornographic images and how? Did Martin Leathead let the elders into his home and let the elders search for the images?
His wife was told by Mr Gregory about the material and she confronted her husband who eventually admitted to putting the images on the internet.
If his wife didn't know how did Mr. Gregory find out if it was a home computer?
The site with the images on was monitored and, within 20 minutes of Mr Leathead leaving Mr Dale's house, the material was removed.
I don't even know what that means!

Indiana "Religious Freedom" (right to discriminate)
by Simon insickening to see the photo of the religious zealots all stood around the governor signing into law the right for people to discriminate against others (gay, lesbian, trans-gender) based purely on religious dogma.. if religious people want those freedoms then the can't have it both ways - they cannot complain if *they* are discriminated against.. "sorry, we don't like zionists, get out".
"oh, it's some special mass and you can't work your shift?
you're fired!"..

A few weeks ago I watched a news segment (can't recall the media outlet) about a service provider (a florist as I recall) whose business is threatened because she didn't want to supply her services to a gay couple for their wedding.Replace gay couple with:
Hispanic couple
Fat couple
Jewish couple
Handicapped couple
African-American couple
Atheist couple
Is it alright if this florist didn't provide services to any of these couples?

One word the people of the United States don't seem to understand is ''boycott.''
Boycott any business that discriminates people of color, gender and nationality. Do not purchase any product or services from any of these businesses. Do not donate or volunteer for any of these churches or businesses.
The irony is that the people who pushed so much for this profess to follow the founder who preached precisely against it. Funny how claimed followers of Christ are typically the most un-Christian people.
The Jehovah's Witnesses fought so hard for religious freedom. They fought for the right to preach by knocking on everyone's door. They fought for the right to not salute the flag and say the pledge of allegiance.
The Watchtower fought for their religious rights but forgot to give each person the right to quit the church without being disfellowshipped.
